UPDATED: Gimenez giving $6 Million in "plain old favoritism and cronyism" via #PoliticalCortadito plus #MiamiHerald

UPDATE: Miami Herald reports on rest of the sorted details of this latest Boondoggle --

Looks like the joke is on us Taxpayers ... just same old Gimenez favoritism and cronyism!

Why? Because Munillas lost the bid competition outright by NOT being the lowest bidder.  Yep Munilla got beat ...

So why are Munillas getting such a sweetheart deal:
  • get dead/expired contract extended for 1 more year
  • plus $6 Million and
  • chance to get bigger deal won by other bidder

All thanks to... Mayor Carlos Gimenez favoritism and cronyism and because of a technicality blamed on a convenient scapegoat airport staff!

Time for a full and complete Inspector General investigation ... and Ethics Commission needs to intervene!!

"The [County Commission] committee voted to extend Munilla’s contract by one year, at a maximum additional cost of $6 million, while MIA sorts out the next steps for the flawed bidding effort."

"At the center of the contretemps is a form asking proposers to list the hourly rates they would charge for a string of job descriptions, from general manager to clerical. Each classification had “estimated hours” provided by MIA."

"With the new hours, Munilla’s total cost would have soared from $2.7 million to $22 million, compared to $11 million for second-place finisher NV2A, according to an MIA summary prepared for the committee meeting."

Political Cortadito:"Miami-Dade Mayor’s pal gets $6 Million extension on (expired) contract"

No joke... No bid, no competition on expired contract, just some plain old favoritism and cronyism!

What's $176 Million + $6 Million?
That's how much The Munilla Construction Management has gained in country contacts during Gimenez's reign...

Munilla Construction Management — a frequent county bidder doing hundreds of millions of dollars worth of projects — will likely get an additional $6 million and a one-year extension Thursday for “miscellaneous” renovations and repairs at Miami International Airport.

Just like that.
No open bidding, no competitive process.
Just $6 million more for work that they just didn’t get to and that needs to get done.
